Why you should stay away from cheap massage chairs

Massage chair prices range from under $1000 to over $10000 in today’s market. With so many products out on the market, every customer has to be skeptical about which products are of actual long-term use, and not just unusable after a month or so. We’ve come across hundreds of massage chairs, and can tell you that a cheap massage chair is not the best route to take when it comes to buying one.

Which is better?

Chairs have gotten cheaper as technology improves, yet when a $1000 chair offers the same things that a $2000 chair offers, something is not right with one of them. Typically, the cheaper chair does not actually contain many of the functions or “bells and whistles” that a higher priced massage chair would have. You may see terms being thrown around like “3D/4D” or “thai yoga”, but in reality, most of those cheap chairs are as basic as it gets. The market nowadays are packed with these cheap massage chairs, by just scanning reviews and comparing them to higher priced massage chair brands like Kahuna, Relaxonchair, Infinity, etc., it gets easier to see the actual differences in quality massage chairs. Those brands are about $1000 more than the cheaper chairs on the market, and in our opinion, worth the money. That’s not to say the cheap massage chairs can’t be great; however, investing in a quality massage chair to relieve stress and pain is a great move. Of course though, quality doesn’t come without a higher price tag.

Cheap chairs are not built to last very long; you don’t want to keep spending money on a cheap massage chair to get it fixed only for it to be broken again right away. Spending that extra $1000 to $2000 can go a long way as they are typically going to be made with higher quality materials, and typically will come with a warranty. A warranty is always a safe bet for their reliability and support backing their products. When it comes to repairing chairs, we get hundreds of chairs that need to be repaired aesthetically and functionally. Yet the cheaper chairs are typically worse for wear, requiring repairs on fabric and functions.

People go to spas and salons for massages from real people; you might need more intense massages or certain areas massaged in order to relieve stress and pain from day to day. But the majority of people don’t have the time or financial capability to go get a massage for $100 regularly. Investing in a massage chair can be well worth is in the long run, and a higher priced massage chair isn’t priced higher than cheaper brands just because; it will most likely provide an overall, more detailed massage because it has extra functions that separate it from the most basic of the bunch. Remember the term 3D? Well a massage chair that contains a 3D function allows its back rollers to penetrate deeper into your back muscles and tissue, resulting in a more thorough massage in order to mimic a physical deep massage from a masseur. And yet the cheap chair might claim that it has a 3D function, but in reality, it has a basic back rollers. These different “bells and whistles” of the massage chair market all markup the price of a chair, but are all used to provide a quality massage well worth the money.

Invest for the future

We don’t hate cheap massage chairs; if chairs were actually supposed to be that cheap, we would encourage everyone to buy one. But alas, massage chairs are not cheap for the reason that their production costs are high, and well it would be too good to be true. By all means, go for the cheap massage chair, but if you are looking to purchase a massage chair to last for a couple years, we would suggest indulging a bit more on a quality product instead.
