Hey! Welcome back to the 2nd installation of our series Sit On It, where we’re gonna take a look at a massage chair feature, and break it down for you. This week, we’re talking about heating, and what heating aims to do for you.

Warmth

Most people prefer the warm, cozy feeling of a fire against the bitter cold of the night. And there’s a reason for that—our bodies perform functions better at a specific temperature. The same logic applies to muscles to a certain extent; colder muscles have a more difficult time with movement, and cold weather can slow down the rate of oxygen being released into your muscles. But heating your muscles can be beneficial to a certain extent. They allow your muscles to be more flexible, which can reduce the risk of injury, and can also improve the rate at which your muscles receive nutrients, promoting healing. It can be effective to a certain extent, where higher, more extreme temperatures can have adverse effects like losing too much water via sweating, or heat cramps, which are detrimental to your health rather than helpful. So heating must always be used in moderation.

What Heating does for you with a massage

However, heating in massage chairs can be beneficial. By allowing the muscles to heat up, they’ve become more flexible—letting the massage chair dig into your muscles, and releasing tension effectively. The feature on massage chairs tend to be gentle, but we must always ask you to please take precaution. Now that we know what heating can do for you, a massage with heating will feel so much more effective compared to a massage without heating. Take for example, an innovation in recent massage chair models: heated massage rollers. By having heated massage rollers, they can both gently heat the area that is being massaged instead of having the entire lumbar region being heated. Of course, some people prefer the warmth of the entirety of the lumbar region, but in the sense of producing a more effective massage, the heated massage roller allows only your muscles to receive heating, which aims to promote healing of the muscle and make it more flexible.

Now of course, heating isn’t everything in a massage chair, but a good heating system can help produce a relaxing, comfortable massage. It is just a small cog in the entirety of the machine known as the massage chair, where everything works together in a symphony to give you the relief you deserve.

So just think about it, and Sit On It.
